I have a few autumn fruiting raspberries. They are like weeds, sending out roots and coming up three feet away from where I planted them.
We have had a heavy frost for the past two weeks and my raspberries are looking very sad. As soon as the weather is a bit warmer, I will be outside with the secateurs.
All my raspberry canes will be cut back to ground level or below. The cut canes can go on the compost heap. New canes will shoot up just as strongly next year. I have never understood why people pay for raspberry canes, they can have some of mine for free.
The main reason I grow raspberries is to make my traditional English Summer Pudding.
I have a whole bed in my vegetable garden devoted to soft fruit and another job for the winter is to weed it and apply lots of slow release fertiliser, or I will not be getting much fruit next year.
