You can add value to your property in ways that are inexpensive, as well as adding to the safety and security of your home. Put in a garden, build an entertainment area with paving or a veranda, put in a pool and for your safety add security doors  and even security screens to your windows. These will all add value to your home and help you make a bigger return in the future on your money.

Security doors and screens

You can add value to your home by adding security doors and screens. People like to feel safe when they are at home and know that when they go out that their house and belongings remain safe.  A security door means you can answer your front door but not open the security door and still speak to the person at the door.

Veranda or patio

A great way to add value to your home is by building a veranda or patio. You will also be adding a wonderful space outside for people to entertain and you can even build an outdoor kitchen which will make your outdoor very versatile.  You can also add a whole extra living area on to your house, vastly increasing the value of your property.

With a veranda you will be able to sit out and enjoy the garden and keep out of the sun in summer.  Having a veranda will also help keep your house cooler in summer as it will shade your windows and not let the sun into your house.

Paving

Paving areas of your back garden not only adds value to your home it also makes it look much tidier and gives you somewhere to put your barbecue. You can also have paving around the edge of a pool or garden beds. A paved area will give you an instant entertainment area as you can put the barbecue and your outdoor furniture here. You might also put some paving along areas that you walk often, such as down to the garden shed or across to the clothesline. The paving will stop you from wearing tracks in your lawn.

Pool

By having a swimming pool you will be adding a lot of value to your property, and it’s something that you will get a lot of use of during the summer.  You will need to look after your pool properly so that it stays in good condition.  Learn how to test the water and balance the right chemicals.  You should buy all the right equipment to help effectively clean your pool as it will make it easier if you clean it regularly.

To be able to use your pool longer throughout the year, think about installing heating.  This will also appeal more to any potential buyers.  You will need to have a safety gate installed as, by law, you are required to have one.  If you have enough money you could think about building a pool house.
