Now is the time to cut back all your spring flowering shrubs. Cut out any old stems back to ground level to encourage new growth that will produce more flowers next May.
Cut some of the trimmings to 12 inches long and stick the bottom end of the twig into the ground. Most will grow to give you more shrubs to sell, give away or swap next year.
Put the rest of your trimmings through a garden chipping machine to make mulch for between your shrubs
